If you write shorter pieces such as poetry or flash fiction, please feel free to send more than one as we are open to publishing small collections from one writer in one zine. Please don’t be dissuaded if you only have one short piece though - we would love to read and consider it for publication stand-alone.

Submissions are open for Edition #3. Please bear in mind that we are currently still working on Edition #2 so will not be able to respond to submissions for Edition #3 for months.

Word-o-Mat is committed to representing a heterogeneous set of voices and is actively seeking submissions from female and non-binary writers in order to improve the gender balance behind the words that we print. We focus on supporting new writers and can provide editorial support.

Word-o-Mat accept previously published work so long as you can tell us when and where it has been published before and that we have the right to publish it again.

We respond to everyone who submits work and will endeavour to give feedback and support as much as possible.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Word-o-Mat accepts short work:
short stories, creative non-fiction, essays, excerpts from larger works, image-texts, cartoons and poetry. Short pieces that don’t fit into these categories are also welcome.

Please include how you found out about submissions in the body of your email. Word-o-Mat craves international submissions to continue providing a wordy gateway between Scotland and the rest of the world.
